Depending on where you look on the internet, this is a statement made by either Oscar Wilde, Orson Wells, or Frank Zappa. Orson Wells seems to be the consensus, but to me, he seems to be the least likely source. His fights with studios are legendary, and Wells pushed against technical boundaries constantly. Hardly seems like the man who would say artistic limitations are a good thing.
