My daughter and I love to make “Foldy Monsters” together. More commonly know as Exquisite Corpse, it was first a writing, then a drawing game developed by the French Surrealists. There are a number of versions to the game, but this is how we play it:
A piece of paper is folded into thirds. One person draws on the top third of the page – the head. Without looking at the top third, another person draws in the middle third – the torso. Then a third person draws the legs on the bottom third, also not looking at what the other artists have drawn before them. Finally you unfold revealing a “Foldy Monster”, a delightful creature that no one would have come up with on their own.
